Used to separate a mixture of immiscible liquids.
Type 1 (Conical) and Type 2 (Pear) Separating Funnels are broadly used interchangeably. However, the Type 2 Pear shape is especially useful when the mixed solvents are slow to separate: the greater surface area and shorter depth reduce settling times.
