Usage GuideStirring rods are used for a variety of tasks in the laboratory apart from simple stirring. For example, in filtration they are used to tamp down solids on a Buchner funnel to remove excess liquid. They are also used to scratch the glass sides of a saturated solution to encourage crystallisation.
